Needling

’Needling’ is a method that is increasingly used in cosmetic dermatology. The procedure is based on the skin’s very own regenerative capacity: A dermapen (pen) equipped with numerous short needles is moved over the area of skin to be treated. The tiny needles cause a large quantity of very superficial ‘puncture wounds’ but leave the deeper skin layers untouched. The skin cells, subsequently, are encouraged to produce collagen which ‘rejuvenates’ the skin. The effects become visible after a few weeks. The healing process can be accelerated by adding sera such as hyaluronic acid.
For cosmetic needling, we use a pen with a depth of 0.25 to 1.5 mm. We will chose the appropriate pen depending on the area of skin (face, neck, décolleté) to be treated.

Results of Cosmetic Needling:

  • refinement of skin structure
  • tightening and firming of skin
  • reduction of scars (e.g. acne scars, stretch marks)
  • regeneration of light-induced skin damage
  • reduction von pigment disorders (hyperpigmentation)
  • reduction of fine wrinkles, particularly around the eyes and mouth.

Advantages:

  • the treatment requires only local anaesthesia and is not painful
  • no open wound
  • short healing period
  • little/no sensitivity to light
  • low risk of hypo- or hyperpigmentation
